Wong Ming Sum, born in Hong Kong, graduated from the Graduate Institution of Applied Art at The National Tainan University of the Arts in 2024. Her works primarily focus on interdisciplinary arts, combining metal, painting, objects, and images.
Through her observations of the interaction between individuals and society, she seeks connections with people, explores relationships, and contemplates the state of both people and objects through the language of material expression. Wong delves into the inherent sensory connections to "self-awareness" within contemporary trends of thought.
In her recent painting works, she uses metal as skin colors and textures, blurring the human consciousness of time through the reflection, gradients, and mirror images of metal. This allows perception to replace the naked eye, seeking alternative paths to understanding the material world through the layers of her works. Furthermore, she employs "transparent colors" to paint the forms of water, exploring how reflected light on "transparent textures" holds more authentic things and dynamics, expressing her imagination of a "colorless world."
